About the Role

​

We are looking for a driven individual with a can-do attitude to join our fast-growing startup team at BindEthics, based in Leeds, UK. As a Research Chemist, you will play a key role within the R&D, focusing on developing and optimising biobased adhesive formulations to meet specific application needs.


You will be responsible for planning and conducting laboratory experiments to screen and optimise formulations, adhesives characterisation and optimising processes in the lab, such as biorefining of the industrial food waste. Additionally, you will assist in scaling up formulations for production, perform industry standards testing and preparation of technical documentation.

Responsibilities

​

  • Plan and conduct laboratory experiments to screen, optimise, and characterise adhesive formulations that meet application requirements as well as testing.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations

  • Regularly report and communicate experimental findings, progress, and technical challenges in the agreed format

  • Optimise lab processes, including biorefining of industrial food waste, to enhance formulation development.

  • Assist in scaling up formulations for production, ensuring successful transition from lab to manufacturing.

  • Assist in performing industry standards testing as well as preparation of technical documentation and safety data sheets.

  • Ensure alignment with changing business priorities within the startup environment, taking on new responsibilities as necessary.

  • Take ownership of projects and adapt to evolving startup priorities.

  • Maintain an organised and safe laboratory environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and best practices as well as conducting COSHH assessments, risk assessments and equipment calibration.

About you

​

Essential

  • Be willing to relocate or be based in Leeds

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry.

  • Experienced in a laboratory environment gained through work in industry or during the degree

  • Be familiar with industry Health and Safety standards

  • Quick and keen learner with a can-do attitude

  • Thrive in fast paced environments such as start-ups

  • Proven ability to be organised, use initiative, solve problems and communicate effectively

  • Be reliable team member and able to work independently
